The Retreat is Blackdown's most versatile model, available in four lengths from 12ft to 18ft. Built on the same solid oak chassis and cast iron wheels as the rest of the range, it is designed as a personal escape space rather than a dedicated workspace. The interior can be configured for relaxation, reading, yoga, or simply as a quiet room away from the main house.
Blackdown's construction method is traditional and labour intensive: FSC certified French oak, Scandinavian pine and eucalyptus joinery, and the same 600 hour hand build that defines all their models. The Retreat sits alongside workspace and hospitality focused huts in their range, but is pitched at private owners who want something with genuine heirloom quality. It is not the cheapest way to add a garden room, but it may be the most enduring.
The four length options, from a compact 12ft to a spacious 18ft, mean the Retreat can fit gardens of very different sizes without compromising on Blackdown's build quality.
