Somerset, Somerset, England
Bramley Hut is an off grid shepherd's hut set in an orchard on a working farm near the Somerset coast, within reach of Exmoor. Solar power runs the fridge and lights, a wood burner provides heat, and the private toilet and shower are housed in a separate facility 30 metres away. A wood fired hot tub is pre heated for the first night. The deliberate simplicity is the format: a radio, books, and board games replace screens.
The Exmoor Dark Skies designation makes the evening here genuinely different from most rural stays. The fire pit with grill allows for cooking and sitting out after dark in conditions that are measurably darker than almost anywhere else in southern England. Optional breakfast hampers and pet friendly policies (with beds and bowls provided) show attention to the details that matter. A second hut and a yurt share the orchard, each with enough separation to feel private.
We love the Exmoor Dark Skies location. Sitting by the fire pit in a designated dark sky area gives the evenings here a quality that cannot be replicated closer to a town.
Guests with pets praised their stays, enjoying local exploration and fully equipped huts with board games, chargers, cooking utensils, and books. Paula’s thoughtful effort for guest comfort was highly appreciated.
