The Hare’s Leap

This entirely hand-built cabin, located on a leafy slope near Glenties in Donegal, offers a unique and tranquil retreat. Often referred to as the Highlands of Ireland, Donegal provides stunning hill-side views. A visiting architect from Canada praised the cabin as the best building of its type seen in years.

The cabin can be booked for single nights during June, July, and August if availability aligns between existing reservations. Guests will find a private parking space, but access involves ascending a series of steps. The accommodation is secluded, featuring its own front and west-facing decks, a small patio garden, outdoor seating, and a table. The host resides in the nearby house, ensuring privacy yet easy contact if needed.

Inside, the west deck’s double doors open into an open-plan living area with a kitchen, seating, and dining space. A wood stove heats the cabin, with firewood included. Modern amenities such as a B&O sound/Bluetooth speaker and Wi-Fi are available. The kitchen is well-equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, kettle, extractor, large double sink, toaster, and fridge. A welcome basket filled with scones, tea, coffee, and basic cooking ingredients is provided.

The bedroom, accessed from the main living space, features a king-sized bed and storage for clothes. All linen, towels, and basic toiletries are provided. The bathroom includes a spacious shower, toilet, wash-hand basin, and an additional electric heater for winter.

Guests are requested to maintain the cabin’s peaceful ambiance by being considerate and removing shoes indoors. Smoking is allowed only outdoors. All areas of the cabin, deck, and private patio garden are accessible to guests.
