Knowe Lodge, part of Carsluith Holiday Lodge, is a secluded, off-grid retreat situated on a 12-acre smallholding with stunning views of the Cree estuary. This open-plan lodge is designed for relaxation and offers guests a wood-fired hot tub to enjoy Galloway’s renowned dark skies. The lodge is pet-friendly (max 2 dogs) and conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from a secluded beach and a 10-minute drive from Kirroughtree 7stanes, known for its mountain biking trails and forest walks.

The lodge operates entirely off the grid, with no mains electricity, TV, or WiFi. Lighting is powered by solar panels, and there are two USB charging points in the bedroom. Water is sourced from a private spring, tested annually. The cosy open-plan living area features floor-to-ceiling windows providing breathtaking views, and a log-burning stove, the lodge’s sole heat source. The kitchen is equipped with a gas oven, grill, hob, and a small fridge-freezer, along with all necessary cooking utensils and condiments.

The dining area seats two, and the double bedroom includes a wooden headboard, bedside tables, chest of drawers, a full-length mirror, and peg hooks for clothing. Bed linen and bathrobes are provided. The modern bathroom has a walk-in shower, toilet, basin, and provided towels.

Outside, a covered decking area with seating allows guests to enjoy the views, even in poor weather. The lodge provides sufficient wood for the stove and hot tub, with additional wood available for £7 per trug. Access to the lodge involves a gravel footpath uphill from the free parking area at the base.

Note that there may be occasional sheep in the nearby fields, and dogs should be kept on a leash at all times. The lodge is not suitable for children under 12, and smoking or vaping is prohibited. Knowe Lodge emphasises tranquillity and a connection to nature, making it a perfect retreat for a digital detox.
